When I started quilting

I seriously started quilting just a few years ago in March of 2013 when a dear friend asked for a quilt for her son.

However, the first quilt I ever made was for my niece, Kalliope Craft, in 1997. It was a blue and white pre-cut pin-wheel kit from Wal-Mart. I made it a crib size and did not label it or take a picture of it. I am not sure if it is still in one piece. If it is, I will see if my brother can get a picture of it for me.

The second quilt I made took me 3 years to make. It was a jean quilt made with my dad's jeans and my children's jeans for my mother after my father passed away. I completed it in 2006.
Crazy Blocks

Bandanna backs
I worked on each block until the bandanna was filled. The first Christmas, mom got 1 block. The second Christmas, mom got a total of 3 blocks. Then finally for the 3rd Christmas she got the whole quilt. I was called many times, being asked when we would get there, should they be holding dinner, etc. all because I had broken 12 needles trying to sew the blocks together and binding on. I made 3 trips to Wal-Mart in 2 different towns to buy all the jeans needles they had to finish the quilt. My kids and I got to dinner at 4 and it was not done because someone forgot to turn the roaster on until about 2 p.m. All in all, mom loved her quilt and all her other gifts that she got that year.

I am going to have to let you go for now, because I have another quilt calling my name.
